Cicely is a young artist based in Surrey, UK. Her work has been shown across the UK and is held in the NHS Tonic Arts Collection. She was awarded the Edinburgh Printmakers Prize at the Royal Scottish Academy in 2024, and shortlisted for the John Ruskin Prize 2025 shortly after.
Through Cicely’s works, we are invited to embark on a journey and discover nuances and information woven into each intricate piece. The deliberate complexity serves a purpose – to slow you down, in order to consider the entirety and minutiae before you, and to consider the process of looking itself.
Her work documents the connections between people, communities, and the ecosystem we inhabit. The landscapes are alive and characters in themselves. Using ink and paper connects Cicely’s work to the long and rich tradition of human communication and the centuries of use for this foundational material.
In the intricate details and deliberate storytelling of Cicely’s work, we can pause, consider, and discover the beauty that lies in the connections between us and the world we shape.
