Whether for a wedding, anniversary, or a memory, I begin each commission with a conversation to gather the stories that shape it. This might be the place where you first met someone, an engagement, particular family members or scenes.

We can meet in person, speak over the phone or I can send over a series of prompts for you to keep, think on, and answer as you wish. These conversations will be the foundation of the work.

Where possible, I will then visit the locations we discuss and sketch. If this is not feasible I will ask for photographs and any specific information that feels important - the time of year, for example, or anything special you remember.

From here, I will create a concept sketch. This is shared with you and can be revised until the drawing feels right. The final drawing will then be completed and paired with a coloured centre. The choice of colour usually emerges as we talk, sometimes it is immediately clear, sometimes gradual.

The finished piece is both landscape and memory - a place where your stories are woven through as you climb the hills.
